One of the most awaited events of IIM Indore- Footprints, involving all the alumni and giving them an opportunity to come together once again and relive their days at the Institute was held on November 22-23, 2015 at the campus. The two-day Annual Alumni Meet saw the cheerful and enthusiastic proud alumni, senior and recent, step back on home ground to relive their college days, greet old pals, meet their professors and interact with current students and juniors.
During the inaugural ceremony of the event, Professor Ranjeet Nambudiri Chair, Alumni Committee, IIM Indore welcomed the alumni, along with Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore and all faculty.
On this occasion, the newly setup official alumni portal, www.iimindore.almaconnect.com was also inaugurated by the Director and faculty. The portal tracking news of over 7000 members associated with IIM Indore and over 600 registered members, aims to deepen the relationship of the alumni with the Institute and bond with one another. The portal also allows enriching discussions on numerous topics of choice and thus gives an excellent opportunity to the alumni to form a closely knit network both, within their batch and with other batches. Professor Nambudiri also gave an account of other initiatives taken to improve the network of alumni and students and to facilitate closer interaction.
Professor Ganesh Kumar Nidugala, Dean Academics, IIM Indore; stressed on the importance of alumni relations in an institute. He also mentioned that IIM Indore is aiming to get a triple accreditation to increase its credibility. In his speech, Professor Krishnan emphasized the importance of alumni being an integral part of IIM Indore. Further, he provided updates about recent developments, current initiatives and future vision of the institute. He concluded by stressing that the alumni have an important and pivotal role to play in building the future of this institution.
This was followed by a set of activities arranged for the alumni. The Alumni Committee of IIM Indore organized a fun and games session including various sports activities too.
In the evening a cultural program was dedicated to them. Harmon-i, the music club of IIM Indore, put together a magical performance with a mix of western and classical songs. The performance by the students playing not only the drums, guitars and the keyboard but also playing master pieces with instruments like the violin and the flute made the evening memorable. Vibes, the dance club of IIM Indore treated the alumni with a mesmerizing dance performances including salsa, contemporary, pop and free style which was followed by a DJ party that went on till the wee hours of morning.
The next day witnessed the presence of Mr. Tarun Sethi, President and Country Head, Yes Bank who interacted with the students. This was followed by a cake cutting ceremony. The alumni were happy to have informal interactions students of PGP1 and 2 sharing their experiences so far and giving words of advice.
The event witnessed over 150 Alumni from courses including PGP (Indore and Mumbai campus), EPGP and PGPMX who took time out to visit their alma mater. As the sun set on the two-day flash from the past, the alumni packed their bags with a small gift and an abstract parcel of nostalgia.
