Bringing laurels to the Institute, IIM Indore’s alum Sundar Balakrishna (PGP Batch 2007-2009) has received the Digital Trailblazer Award from the India Today Group in association with KPMG Consulting on September 20, 2016 for his innovative initiative project—Mobile Meeseva App. He received a trophy and citation during the award ceremony by Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai, renowned news anchor and author was also present during the occasion.
KPMG, with its Digital India team, evaluated several innovative initiatives, both from the private and public sector in the digital space. Several parameters were used to evaluate these digital initiatives which included cost effectiveness, impact on life cycle events of the common man, and leveraging technology. Finally, KPMG and India Today chose 5 projects, among which Sundar’s project was the only government organization which won the Trailblazer Award.
Mentioning about the concept and development of the project, Sundar says, ‘As smart phones are getting adopted in rural and smaller towns, we wanted to use a technology to provide e-government citizen services such as issuance of certificates (birth, death, income, caste, and land records), paying various fees, and utility bills. The app has the facility to download certificates on phone, via email and request print copies on secure stationary, and the service is available on both android and iOS platforms’.
Offering 125 services, Meeseva App was adopted by 50,000 Citizens in the launch month itself (July 2015), with more than 3 Lac app downloads and 2 Lac transactions.
IIM Indore congratulates Sundar and his team for this achievement.
