A group of highly motivated 17 volunteers from Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP—IIM Indore Mumbai Campus) carried various tasks under the ‘Vittiya Saksharata Abhiyan’ –(VISAKA) launched by Shri Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister for Human Resource Development. Pursuant to the Honorable Prime Minister’s appeal to youth in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ for creating awareness among people about digital economy and cashless modes of transactions, VISAKA was launched on December 1, 2016.
Under the supervision of Mr. Jigar Kantharia, Officer In-charge Mumbai Campus and guidance of Professor Meenakshi Aggarwal Gupta, Chair, PGP Mumbai; students carried various tasks enlisted under VISAKA Abhiyan which included display of pamphlets on society/apartment notice boards, spreading awareness among the customers and convincing the retail vendors about cashless transactions, spreading awareness about cashless transactions by house visits, etc.
The purpose of VISAKA is to actively engage the youth/ students of Higher Education Institutions to encourage and motivate all payers and payees to use a digitally enabled cashless economic system for transfer of funds. Ministry of Human Resource Development views the institutions of higher education in the country, faculty members and students to take the lead and act as engines of this transformational shift.
