Crafting a cosmic platform for the youth of the nation, to exhibit their talents, enhance their creativity and explore knowledge, Atharv- The Fest began at IIM Indore on September 9, 2016.
Being one of the biggest cultural and management fest, and the biggest management undergraduate fest in India, Atharv witnessed more than 1500 participants exploring their skills in around 60+ events.
The first day of the fest began with the Inaugural Ceremony in the presence of Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore along with many participants, sponsors and industrialists who would be attending the event. The ceremony began with the formal lamp lighting by Professor Krishnan and the fest coordinators, Charvie Punia and Samyak Ponangi. Professor Krishnan welcomed the participants to the fest and congratulated the Atharv Team for organizing the event successfully. ‘Atharv has now become an significant event in our annual event calendar, which is undoubtedly full of vivid colors and energy. It has a fragrance of its own which fascinates enormous youth crowd from various colleges from the nation’, he noted. He then declared the fest open, and wished the participants a wonderful stay at IIM Indore. This was followed by a beautiful dance performance by Nayanika Chakraborthy, IPM 2016.
iConclave
The first event of the day was iConclave, which provided an opportunity to meet the experts from various fields, listen to their experience and share their wisdom. Mr. Binay Gupta, Director, Dollar Industries; Mr. Axay Dubey, President, New Business & Strategy at Mittal Corp; Mr. Ankit Buti, Founder & CEO, StartupEd; Captain BJ Singh, Chief Executive and Head of Training, Absolute Training Solutions Ltd. and Mrs. Arti Agarwal, Anaxee Technologies were the speakers for the event. They shared their views on the theme—‘Management is the key-root of all successes.’ The speakers shared their experiences and noted that positive thinking can help any organization gain profit, reinvent itself and start again during a bad phase as well. For success, staying relevant is of utmost important, as relevance to the country you are living in matters a lot.
Workshop and Talks
The day also witnessed two talks and one workshop. The first talk of the day was on ‘Anatomy of a Business Plan’ by Mr. Ankit Buti, Founder & CEO, StartupEd. The second talk was on ‘Bootstrapping’ by Mr. Baldev Singh Rawat. A workshop on ‘IPR and Startups’ was conducted by Mr. Manas Dowlani.
Vanity: The Fashion Show
The major highlight of the day was Vanity, the Fashion Show, embracing all the glamour and beauty, connecting all the vibrancy on one single stage. Vanity witnessed a participation of more than 194 individual and 64 team participants, who were applauded and cheered by the mesmerized audience. The judges for the event were Ms. Apeksha Porwal, Ms. Krithika Khurana and Mr. Karan Sehgal. The results were as follows:

Vanity was paralleled by iSo—The photography contest, which gave the participants a chance to click photographs around the campus and show their creativity.
Other Events:
Among the various management events, Avant Garde gave an opportunity to the participants to showcase the entrepreneur skill one owns and be a part of the startup culture. 11 teams participated in the event, and were asked to present their ideas before experienced judges and get a chance to win prizes worth Rs. 30,000. The next round of the competition would be held tomorrow.
Another management event, Finopoly began with its second round- Hollering Holdings—Simulation, today, which was all about finance and business. 48 teams participated and the third round would be held tomorrow. HeadhunteR, the HR event also started today, which dealt in checking the communication and negotiation skills of the participants. A total of 129 participants took part in HeadhunteR.
Among the other management and literary events was Imperium– the mega management and leadership event of the fest, which aims to provide a platform for aspiring managers to test their skills through case studies and simulations. These cases would be designed such that the participants get hands-on experience of the management setting, as it is in today’s corporate world. In its first edition this year, Imperium is being conducted as one of the marquee events of IIM Indore’s Management and Cultural Fest – Atharv 2016. As it evolves, Imperium looks to establish itself as a premier B-school event alongside current stalwarts. The event witnessed a huge participation as well.
The next round of Vox Populi also took place with 14 teams from various colleges. The Inter-Varsity Debate—Atharv IV also took place today, which had 91 participants. The next round of the debate would take place tomorrow. Hallabol—The street play witnessed a participation of 124 students in all, leaving the audience mesmerized by their acts.
Various fun-events, Informals also took place, which included Zorbing, Paintball, Laser Maze, Galli Cricket, Volleyball, etc. among the many which attracted participants leaving them feel rejuvenated.
The second day of the fest would witness next rounds of various competitions. The major highlight of the day would be the Comedy Night, with Mr. Zakir Khan, the renowned standup comedian as the guest. Another highlight for the day would be Delirium—The Battle of Bands, which would be witnessing rocking performances. Workshops on Digital Marketing and Social Intelligence would also take place.
