IIM Indore organized a customized Management Development Programme (MDP) for State Bank of India (SBI) on ‘Agile Information Technology Project Management Methodologies’. This programme was designed to impart expertise to SBI executives in the Agile IT Methodologies and Project Management, keeping in mind that today, when 50% of the industry has already moved to agile and is expected to touch 80% by 2017, IT managers need to understand the nitty-gritties of agile project management. The programme was conducted by Professor N M K Bhatta, Faculty, IIM Indore, an expert in this domain. This two-day programme was held at the Indian Institute of Management Indore, Mumbai Campus from 11th to 12th September, 2015.
The programme was inaugurated by Deputy Managing Director and Chief Information Officer (DMD&CIO) of State Bank of India, Shri Mrutyunjay Mahapatra. He envisions to take IT in SBI to a higher level, and for this, he emphasized the need for the collaboration of eminent academicians from IIMs and experts in the banking industry. He stated that as disruptive technologies emerge, it is imperative to use new and innovative ways of IT design. The ultimate aim of the IT wing of a bank should be able to accelerate customer deliveries which will result in ultimate customer delight as nowadays, IT is expected to be the driver of business and not just an enabler
The programme provided an understanding of Agile methods of Project delivery and Agile Estimation Techniques. It enabled the participants to make use of the modern techniques in IT Project Management to significantly reduce the turnaround time of the project/product deliverables.
