The Induction Programme for the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) Batch 2015-17 at IIM Indore concluded on Saturday, 11 July, 2015. The second day of the programme began with plantation of trees at the IIM Indore campus, followed by briefing on Government of India directive on ‘Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging’ by Professor Dipayan D. Chaudhuri, PGP Chair.
In the next session, Professor Madhusri Shrivastava, Faculty, Communications Area, IIM Indore, gave a briefing on Plagiarism, which was followed by a briefing on facilities and systems including computing, library, security & safety.
An interactive session on Disability Awareness was also conducted by V-Shesh Organization. Speakers Radhika Agarwal and Seema Billimoria mentioned that around seven crore people in India are especially-abled and they face many social barriers. She suggested that we need to create an environment where they get equal opportunities and equal treatment.
Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director IIM Indore introduced Mr.Giri Giridhar, Senior Director Finance, MSD Pharmaceuticals Ltd. In his commencement speech, Mr. Giridhar congratulated the students and asked them to start every day with a positive thought. Sharing the memories and experiences of his graduating years, he advised the students never to think negative. There would be days when others may perform better, but you need to keep learning from them, he suggested. He motivated the participants to enjoy and celebrate each day as they are getting an opportunity to live next two years with a fantastic team of students and faculties.
Mr. Giridhar mentioned, one should always dream big, even if the start is small. Maximize every single opportunity you get and always relate what you learn in theory to the real life world. This would amplify the learning process, he noted. Concluding his speech, he advised the students to be clear about their career choice and decide what kind of company they want to work in. He encouraged the students who want to become entrepreneurs and suggested them to be a self-mentor.
The entire orientation was extremely enriching and informatory for the participants, and was a perfect start to their upcoming two years at IIM Indore.
