Utsaha-IIM Indore’s Marketing Research Fest

– 600+ participants, 2 workshops, and 6 speakers in Utsaha 2022

The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) conducted Central India’s biggest marketing fest, ‘Utsaha,’ on October 28-29, 2022. This year’s Utsaha focused on “Marketing Through Multiple Lenses,” and over 700 people from India’s best business schools participated.

The fest was inaugurated by Prof. Saumya Ranjan Dash, Dean (Programmes), IIM Indore. Prof. Swatantra, Chair-Hostel and Students Affairs; Prof. Abhishek Mishra, Chair-FPM, Faculty, IIM Indore; and Col. Gururaj Gopinath Pamidi (Retd.), CAO, IIM Indore were also present. Prof. Dash congratulated the entire proactively involved Utsaha team and shared his view on how the rural market is expected to grow. He noted that conducting a marketing fest focusing on this theme is very forthcoming and contextually relevant. Col. Pamidi congratulated the Utsaha team for successfully organizing the event in physical form for the first time post-COVID. Prof. Abhishek Mishra elaborated on the significance of an urban-to-rural fest. Prof. Swatantra also praised and encouraged the event’s organizers.

 

The fest witnessed various workshops and speaker sessions.

Mr. Sanjeev Pathak, CMIT Business Head of HP, started the speaker session by elaborating on the three pillars of marketing: create, communicate, and deliver. He mentioned that ‘delivering’ – the promise communicated- is very important. The role of marketing is to increase perceived value, which helps create a brand. He advised the participants to “Find out who is your customer and your consumer.”

A remarkable Digital Marketing and Growth Hacking Power Session workshop was conducted by Mr. Govind Chandak, Growth Marketer at GrowthAcad. He gave wise tips about achieving the skills for a creative, well-established, and successful growth marketing strategy.”

Mr. Akshay Dua, Chief Growth Officer at GNC India, shared his unsurpassed knowledge of “How to grow a brand.” He emphasized that to build a brand, you should have a crisp brand identity, know the brand’s core message, and be known while launching the brand campaign. A brand should also have a story. “Build a community with common sentiments and aspirations,” he said. 

Mr. Amit Agrwal, the author of “Small is Big,” explored Micro Excellence in Life, Business, and Productivity. He advocated sales, mindfulness, a nutritional diet, and financial health. He spoke about the three Rs: Reward, Risk and Repetition, and Power Time Capsules. He says, “Earth is a school where you need to focus on yourself and develop your quality.”

Mr. Puneet Gupta, AVP of Corporate Communications, Inox, spoke on effective marketing. He said that the most significant skill for any marketer is to identify opportunities to differentiate their brand from competitors. “Choose your medium, and have the knack of identifying opportunities for creating differentiators for the brand,” he explained.

Mr. Vijay Nair, VP and Marketing Head, Shine.com, spoke on Utsaha Theme, “online marketing through multiple lenses.” He discussed the critical concepts of Marketing 5.0, revenue drivers, and techniques for branding, awareness, driving traffic, conversion, and nurturing. He ended the session with great advice: “Good marketing makes the company look smart, while great marketing makes the customer feel smart. And the best marketing doesn’t feel like marketing. “

Prof. Abhishek Mishra graced the closing ceremony. He congratulated the Utsaha team for successfully conducting the most prominent marketing research fest and encouraged the participants to be passionate, compassionate, and kind. ‘Give your cent percent to every task you take and every decision you make, for excellence is all that matters,’ he said.

Utsaha ’22 has been a roller-coaster ride of learning, gamification, and fun for the participants, attendees, and organizers alike. “We want to thank everyone for their enthusiastic participation and undying curiosity.
