About Industry Interface Office (IIO)
The Industry Interface Office (IIO) at IIM Indore is focused on strengthening the relationship between the industry and the Institute. IIO is responsible for enhancing the existing industry-academia partnership to enable students, faculty, and industry to benefit from the exchange of ideas and services. In addition, we undertake research and consulting assignments with public, private, and non-governmental sectors as well as international institutions. IIO coordinates the close working together of engaged stakeholders on relevant and contemporaneous issues afflicting the organizations. Typically, IIO extends value-added services like high-quality research-driven solutions to corporate clients in the form of General Consultancy Services, Expert Talk Series, HR conclaves, Industry meet, etc.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Industry Engagement Officer to develop and maintain strategic relationships with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across Indore and the broader Madhya Pradesh region. This role will focus on generating consultancy assignments and facilitating industry engagement initiatives for our faculty.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and engage with SMEs in Indore and across Madhya Pradesh to understand their business challenges and needs
- Bring in new consulting projects funded by various national and international agencies (Government and/or industry sponsored)
- Develop and maintain a robust database of SME contacts and relationships
- Create compelling proposals for consultancy services tailored to SME requirements
- Help organize industry-academia networking events to foster collaboration
- Monitor industry trends and identify emerging opportunities for faculty expertise
- Ensure timely delivery of consultancy projects
- Track and report on engagement metrics and revenue generation
Regional Focus Areas
- Automobile, pharmaceutical, software, retail, textile trading and real estate industries that form the backbone of Indore’s economy
- IT and ITES sectors that are growing quickly in places like Indore and Bhopal
- Agriculture and agribusiness, renewable energy, tourism and hospitality, and manufacturing sectors
- Emerging sectors including renewable energy, mining, dairy and food processing, tourism, and rural and cottage industries
Qualifications
Required
- Master’s degree in business administration, Management, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in business development, client relationship management, or consulting
- Proven track record of building and maintaining business relationships
- Strong understanding of the SME landscape in Madhya Pradesh
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to understand and translate academic expertise into practical business solutions
- Fluency in Hindi and English (written and verbal)
Desired
- Experience working with academic institutions or research organizations
- Knowledge of consultancy project management
- Familiarity with government schemes and initiatives for SMEs in Madhya Pradesh
- Network of existing industry contacts in the region
- Experience in organizing business events or conferences

Salary & Allowances
The selected candidate will be deputed in IIM Indore through manpower agency on a consolidated monthly pay package subject to satisfactory performance, which will be reviewed on an annual basis. Salary will not be a constraint for the deserving candidate.
