IIM Indore organised Industry Meet
Indian Institute of Management, Indore organised an Industry Meet at their campus on 6 June 15. 155 Industrialists/top management executives of the organisations in and around Indore and Office bearers of all major Industry associations of MP participated in the meet.
While welcoming the participants, IIM Indore director, Prof Rishikesha Krishnan stressed the need for continuous interaction between the Industry and IIM and called upon the Industry to join hands with IIM in building a robust platform for such a mechanism.
Sri D Sivanandan, IPS, former DGP of Maharashtra, while delivering the keynote address as the chief guest, emphasised the importance of Courage of Conviction while carrying out Business Operations. He used two case studies of his own police career to elaborate the point. The first case study was regarding elimination of underworld mafia from Mumbai during his tenure as Jt Commissioner (Crime) and the second case study was how he built a world class anti-terror mechanism post as Mumbai Police Commissioner and Director General of Police Maharashtra post 26/11 attacks.
A panel discussion was arranged with 4 CEOs as panellists and Director IIM as the moderator. Subject of discussion was “Industry Institute Relations: Expectations and Modalities”. Sri Mahesh Sharma, CEO, Flexituff International Ltd, sri Rajendra Jain, Managing Director of ITL Industries Ltd, Sri Rakesh Agarwal, CEO of Tata International Ltd and Sri Prafulla Nilosey, CEO Bhandari Foils & Tubes, Dewas were the panellists. During the discussion, panellists felt that world-class Institutions like IIMs must help small Industries in building critical competencies like Financial Management, supply chain management, creating innovative business models etc. They appreciated the initiative of IIM and to arrange Industry interaction and requested that it should be continued as a regular measure.
Prof NM Bhatta of IIM conducted an interactive session with the participants on Industry Visit Course program for the Post Graduate students. Industry leaders opined that this is a very good program and pledged their full support in making this meaningful and learning experience for both for the Industry and students.
