IIM Indore Sponsors Faculty Development Programme for Faculty and Research Scholars from Nagaland

21 Participants register for the 5-day program to engaged in a fully supported learning experience as a part of IIM Indore’s Institute Social Responsibility.

As a premier institution committed to nation-building through education, the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) has once again stepped forward to contribute to nation-building and create synergies across regions. IIM Indore is hosting a Faculty Development Programme exclusively designed for faculty and research scholars from Nagaland for the first time. This initiative marks a pivotal step in nurturing academic excellence and strengthening the educational framework of the Northeast. A total of 21 faculty and research scholars from Nagaland University and Kohima Science College have registered for the programme.In line with its institutional social responsibility, IIM Indore is ensuring that the participants from Nagaland have full access to the resources and learning opportunities provided throughout this programme, with no associated costs.

The five-day programme was inaugurated by Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director of IIM Indore. In his inaugural address, Prof. Rai emphasized the vital role that education plays in uniting diverse cultures and empowering individuals. He remarked, “At IIM Indore, we believe that education is not just a tool but a responsibility to build bridges, spark innovation, and create leaders. The Northeast is a region brimming with talent and untapped potential, and we are privileged to play a part in nurturing its academic future. This programme is not just about teaching; it’s about sharing, learning, and growing together as a nation.” He mentioned that the FDP reflects IIM Indore’s commitment to empowering educators and scholars to create meaningful change.

He also highlighted IIM Indore’s initiatives that aim to contribute to solving problems like inequality, gap between urban and rural India, environmental issues and lack of entrepreneurial spirit in the country. Prof. Rai called on educators to inspire youth to take risks, embrace experimentation, and pursue ventures they dream of. “If we don’t celebrate failures, we won’t be able to create a culture of innovation or see the rise of big startups from India. It starts with us as mentors,” he remarked. He concluded by affirming that this programme is a two-way journey of learning. “It’s not just about teaching but about exchanging ideas and working together to create solutions for a better India”, he said. As the programme unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the power of education to connect hearts and minds across India, turning diversity into strength and challenges into opportunities.

Dr. Temjenwabang, Principal of Kohima Science College, expressed deep gratitude and appreciation for Prof. Himanshu Rai’s leadership.

Dr. Temjenwabang said. He expressed his gratitude for IIM Indore’s generous support in facilitating this programme, ensuring that the participants from Nagaland are able to fully engage in this valuable learning experience without any financial concerns. He also touched on the challenges faced by educational institutions in Nagaland. “While we are working hard to advance ourselves, we have our own set of challenges, especially with conducting skill-based programmes. We face difficulties in implementing such initiatives due to limited resources. We thank IIM Indore for conducting this programme that will offer us insights on leadership, marketing research, digital marketing, finance for non-finance executives, and various case studies and simulations, that would be a game-changer for our colleges and universities.”

Prof. Subin Sudhir, Associate Dean – Executive Education at IIM Indore, extended a heartfelt welcome to the participants, emphasizing the significance of the programme as a platform for growth and collaboration. Addressing the gathering, he said, “We are delighted to welcome our esteemed faculty and research scholars from Nagaland to the vibrant campus of IIM Indore. This programme is not just about academic sessions; it’s about creating a culture of knowledge-sharing and mutual learning. The Northeast holds immense promise, and through this initiative, we aim to provide tools and insights that will help enhance teaching methodologies, research skills, and leadership capabilities.”

Prof. Rajhans Mishra, Programme Coordinator, delivered a vote of thanks and shared thoughtful insights on the significance of the Faculty Development Programme. He expressed gratitude to the participants and acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved in making the initiative possible. Speaking about the objectives of the programme, Prof. Mishra said, “These sessions are designed not just to share knowledge but to equip you with practical tools that you can take back to your classrooms and institutions. The true benefit of initiatives like this FDP lies in clearing out myths and broadening perspectives”. He encouraged the participants to have an open mindset—to learn, to grow, and to connect the dots between diverse ideas and experiences they gain during the programme.
