Second Batch of MSDSM Begins

After the success of the first batch of the Master in Data Science and Management (MSDSM) launched by IIM Indore and IIT Indore, the institutes welcomed the participants of the second batch of the programme on August 29, 2022. The new batch was inaugurated online by Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore. Prof. Suhas Joshi, Director, IIT Indore; Prof. Parimal Kar, Programme Coordinator, IIT Indore; and Prof. Amit Vatsa, Programme Coordinator, IIM Indore, were also present.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Rai spoke about the significance of the skillsets required in the post-fourth industrial revolution world. He said that with the tremendous advancement in technology and the amount of data, it is crucial to identify correct, authentic, clean data. Thus, complex decision-making, understanding big data, and collaboration are the skills that are a prerequisite for the current scenario. ‘This uniquely designed course by IIM Indore and IIT Indore will add value to your knowledge and develop you into individuals who are adept at data analytics and management, thereby contributing to nation-building’, he said. Mentioning that IIM Indore aims to remain a contextually relevant institute, this programme is also relevant to the participants and the world. ‘We at IIM Indore have world-class academic standards. While the learning and pedagogy might be virtual in this course, the learning and improvement in your knowledge skills will be real’, he said. He advised the participants to learn from each other and gain maximum knowledge. ‘A lot of wisdom lies within your cohort. Collaborate and learn together. Be passionate and compassionate, and make the best use of your learnings’ he said.

Prof. Suhas Joshi also welcomed the new batch on this occasion. He said that this course is unique for this is a blend of data analytics and management. ‘IIM Indore and IIT Indore have come together to offer you the best curriculum relevant to industry standards. You should try to maximize your gain, learn and interact with the faculty’, he advised. With a diverse set of people in the batch, this programme gives a platform to interact and network and understand and learn from everyone’s work experiences. ‘This will open your mind to new perspectives and boost your curiosity to learn’, he said.

Prof. Amit Vatsa and Prof. Parimal Kar, Programme Coordinators, congratulated the new batch on becoming a part of MSDSM. With 54 participants who have registered for the course, the second batch of MSDSM brings together 89 percent of working professionals from different backgrounds. The batch comprises participants from IT, ITES, Construction, Manufacturing, BFSI, Analytics, and other domains with an average 4-year work experience.
