Industry Advisory Board for Post Graduate Program in Human Resource Management in Indian Institute of Management Indore

The Post Graduate Programme in Human Resource Management (PGP-HRM) being offered by Indian Institute of Management Indore from 2018 is a state of the art management programme committed to nurturing a new wave of HR professionals. The programme aims to nurture professionals who have well evolved competencies in all the functional domains of Human Resource Management and have a strong understanding of business issues. The programme is committed to developing professionals who are immersed in cutting edge analytics, psychometric instruments, assessment centres and behavioural labs, and have the potential to create value for businesses. PGP-HRM is conceptualised as a collaborative enterprise between the institute and industry to ensure that the academic program is in alignment with state of the art practices in industry. The Industry Advisory Board of the programme brings together leaders from the industry whose inputs will provide strategy, energy and direction to the programme.

The Industry Advisory Board acts as:

  • A strategic think-tank which anticipates the future of the HR profession and conceptualise the capabilities that HR professionals need in order to deliver value in a changing business context
  • Provide guidance about the nature of academic inputs and innovations required in programme design
  • Act as a collaborative space for facilitating industry-academia dialogue in a wide range of emerging areas
  • Review the design and implementation of PGP-HRM and suggest improvements to emphasize unique issues and themes
  • Nurture a climate of evidence based evolution of the programme based on a range of partnerships and collaborative knowledge projects

The Industry Advisory Board meets regularly in Indore or Mumbai. The guidance of members is a crucial leadership input in designing, updating and implementing the curriculum. The advice of members deepens the partnerships of IIM Indore with industry to carry out a range of collaborative knowledge projects. The Industry Advisory Board also acts as a strategic think-tank which contemplates on the future forms of organisations and trends in business contexts. A range of tools emerging from analytics, psychometric instruments, behavioural labs and other areas will be reviewed and their opportunities will be assessed. The dialogue constituted through the Industry Advisory Board will keep updating the themes that are crucial for fostering industry-academia dialogue.

The board is a forum for forging a common public space where exemplary leadership can be situated in conversation with academic imagination. A synergistic conversation between theory and practice will greatly help in fostering a mind-set of action influenced by innovative developments in theory and methodology. These conversations can create frames of pragmatic action that can help in nurturing a new wave of professionals who can benefit from the thoughts of inspirational leaders. The programme aims at emerging as a vibrant space which is constantly open to emerging innovations and becomes a global leader in conceptualising and implementing education in the people management domain. The programme firmly seeks to create competencies that can help in nurturing professionals who are responsive and vigorously committed to continual learning.
