Prof. Shruti Tewari is a Professor at the Indian Institute of Management Indore and a trained social psychologist with over 15 years of experience in research, training, and consultancy. At IIM Indore, she teaches a range of courses, including Group Dynamics, Social Cognition, NeuroHR, Neuromarketing, Behavioural Change Communication, and Psychology of Managerial Decisions, across various programmes at UG, PG and doctoral levels. Her teaching integrates social-cognitive theories into management domains, particularly in organisational behaviour and consumer psychology. She conducts capacity building programmes on Stress Management, Time Management, Emotional Intelligence, Coaching & Mentoring, Organisational Decision Making and related topics for executives from private and public sectors.
Before joining IIM Indore, Prof. Shruti served as Research Director on an Indo-British collaborative project on social identity, funded by the Economic & Social Research Council (UK). Her postdoctoral work at the Centre of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences focused on time perception, social identity, and attention within the framework of social cognition. Her research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative techniques with surveys and behavioural experiments. She is currently working on projects related to mass gathering health, behavioural change communication, and inter-group cognition.
Prof. Shruti has been awarded national and international research grants from agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Ministry of Science and Technology (Government of India), the National Commission for Women, and the New Zealand India Research Institute at Victoria University of Wellington. Her research is widely published in international journals and edited volumes.
Beyond academia, Prof. Shruti has played a key role in translating scholarly insights into practical frameworks and policy interventions. She worked with central and state government departments, including those under the ministries of Education, Tourism, and Urban Development. As an executive member of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs funded Centre of Excellence in WASH at IIM Indore, she contributes to advancing research and training in behavioural change communication and governance. She also leads customised executive education programmes, notably through the ANVESHAN initiative, which equips municipal commissioners and senior administrators of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) with strategic tools for sustainable urban waste management. Her consultancy work also extends to social welfare and governance. In collaboration with the Indore Police Commissionerate, she co-developed a comprehensive recommendation report addressing adolescent safety, mental well-being, and responsive policing. This seamless integration of academic rigour with applied consultancy highlights her deep commitment to creating research-driven, socially impactful solutions.
