IIM Indore Conducts ITEC Executive Course on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for Senior Officials

30 Senior Officials from various nations to participate in a 6-day programme

The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) is conducting the ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) Executive Course on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) from October 23-28, 2023. The programme is been conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Thirty senior officials from a diverse group of nations, including Honduras, Cuba, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenadines, Guatemala, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Suriname, Bolivia, Brazil, Jamaica, Lao PDR, Nigeria, Maldives, Cambodia, Egypt, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka are participating in the 6-day programme. IIM Indore’s Director, Prof. Himanshu Rai, inaugurated the programme. Prof. Rajhans Mishra, Programme Coordinator was also present on this occasion.

In his opening address, Prof. Rai highlighted the significance of the DPI programme and its potential to revolutionize citizen-centric and business-related applications on a global scale. He stated, “IIM Indore is honored to host this distinguished cohort of participants from around the world. I firmly believe that with unified thoughts, concerns, and a shared mindset, we hold the power to surmount any challenge. In line with Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam, this programme also reflects our collective global responsibility in the arena of digital evolution and environmental protection.” He mentioned that IIM Indore’s vision revolves around achieving prosperity for all, championing the idea that the prosperity of one nation should not come at the cost of others; it is a shared journey towards cumulative growth. “We understand that the digital and environmental realms are inherently interconnected. Technology, while enabling progress, also places a responsibility on us to use natural resources judiciously. These intertwined issues demand a holistic approach; it’s not solely an environmental matter but also about the actions we take,” he added. He encouraged the participants to explore, network, and learn from one another to gain insights into diverse global lifestyles and perspectives. This collective global awareness is the foundation on which we aim to build a brighter future for all, he said.

The programme focuses on the critical aspects of digital public infrastructure, with a specific emphasis on Aadhar, UPI (Unified Payments Interface), and DigiLocker. These infrastructure components serve as the backbone for existing and future citizen-centric and business-related applications. Participants will delve into the functioning of DPI services and their application in diverse domains such as agriculture, education, taxation, and more.

Over the course of this programme, participants will engage with an array of cutting-edge topics led by renowned experts from various fields. The sessions will explore a range of subjects, including Leadership Communication, India’s role as an Emerging Leader in Technology with an overview of DPI, the establishment of a Global DPI Ecosystem, Cybersecurity on DPIs, AI-backed Platforms for Hyper-Personalization, National Cultural Audiovisual Archives, Undersea Internet Infrastructure, Income Tax Portal Reconciliation and Impact, Infrastructure Requirements for DPI, Open Network for Digital Commerce, Aadhar and its Services, Agri-FinTech, Education and Learning Enablement through Technology, Financial Inclusion with DPI, and the Formulation of DPI Strategy.

This programme promises to equip participants with valuable insights into emerging technologies and their transformative potential for citizen-centric and business services.

The inauguration concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Rajhans Mishra.
