IIM Indore Strengthens BRICS Collaboration with Strategic MoUs in Russia and Brazil

– MoUs signed with HSE University in Russia and FDC in Brazil

– Initiatives to conduct joint programmes and collaborative research, and facilitate student and faculty exchanges

Strengthening its growing international academic network within the BRICS nations, IIM Indore recently signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU).

The first MoU has been signed with HSE University, St. Petersburg, Russia. IIM Indore’s Director, Prof. Himanshu Rai, signed this MoU during his visit to HSE University, St. Petersburg, Russia, along with Dr. Anna Tyshetskaya, Vice Chancellor of HSE University. Dr. Nikita Anisimov, Rector of HSE University, was also present on this occasion.

Prof. Rai said that the partnership between IIM Indore and HSE University is built on a shared vision of promoting academic excellence and innovation. ‘It has been an amazing experience visiting HSE University recently and signing this MoU in a glittering ceremony. The boundless opportunities for joint research, academic programmes, and faculty and student exchanges are vividly apparent’, he said. Additionally, both institutions will work together to organize lectures, conferences, and seminars, providing a robust platform for intellectual exchange and knowledge sharing, he added. Consistently ranked among Russia’s top universities, HSE University has been ranked 6th among all the Russian Universities in the QS World University Rankings 2024. It is a leader in education and research in Eastern Europe and Eurasia. It’s top-tier programmes and research make it a prestigious institution with a global academic presence. ‘By partnering with HSE University, we aim to leverage each other’s strengths and create impactful educational opportunities for our students and faculty’, said Prof. Rai.

Dr. Anna Tyshetskaya said, ‘We are delighted to partner with IIM Indore, an institution known for its academic rigor and innovation. Our visit to IIM Indore last year in November, left a lasting impression on us, further solidifying our belief in the potential of this collaboration’. With shared goals in mind, we eagerly anticipate working closely with IIM Indore to unlock new opportunities for knowledge exchange and academic excellence and shaping the future of education and research, she added.

The development of joint programmes will provide students with unique learning opportunities and global perspectives. These programmes will be designed to address contemporary challenges and equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

‘The exchange of knowledge and research between IIM Indore and HSE University will open new avenues for innovation and discovery,’ said Dr. Nikita Anisimov. ‘We aim to establish a Mirror Lab to conduct research focused on wellness and mental health. Together, we can identify ways to tackle complex global issues and contribute to the advancement of our respective fields’, he added.

Two IIM Indore students will be visiting HSE University in Saint Petersburg for Students Week from June 10 to June 15, 2024. They will participate in the Business & Economics and Social Sciences tracks, experiencing top-tier courses and the rich culture of one of Russia’s most beautiful cities. Their trip is fully funded by HSE University, covering tuition, accommodation, and travel. Upon completion of the Students Week, participants will get a certificate that will provide privileges for admission to HSE University-St Petersburg.

The second MoU has been signed with Fundação Dom Cabral, Brazil (FDC). This MoU was signed by Prof. Rai, along with Prof. Rosileia das Merces Milagres, Vice Dean, FDC. This MoU also includes student and faculty exchange, collaboration for joint research and exchanging research and educational data to be used for education and training purposes.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the collaboration with FDC, Prof. Rai said, ‘FDC is renowned for its academic excellence and innovative approach to business education, ranking 5th in the Financial Times Rankings 2024 for its Open Executive Education Programmes. With IIM Indore making a spectacular debut this year, ranking 61st globally and third best among IIMs in the FT Rankings, this collaboration promises to enhance our academic endeavours and deepen our cultural understanding and global engagement’. We look forward to launching joint certificate programmes, exchanging research insights, and creating transformative educational experiences together, he said.

Prof. Milagres highlighted the significance of the MoU, stating, ‘We are thrilled to collaborate with IIM Indore, one of India’s leading business schools and among the 100 schools globally to receive the prestigious Triple Crown accreditation. This partnership will provide our students with invaluable insights into Indian culture and business environments’. She added that the student and faculty exchanges, along with joint research initiatives, would significantly enhance our academic offerings and foster a global learning experience.

These collaborations mark a pivotal moment in IIM Indore’s journey towards global academic integration, significantly enhancing its engagement within the BRICS network. With existing partnerships such as the one with Baptist University in Hong Kong, China, and now these new MoUs with HSE University in Russia and FDC in Brazil, IIM Indore is well-positioned to foster transformative educational experiences and groundbreaking research opportunities. The institute also looks forward to establishing collaborations in South Africa, further solidifying its commitment to international cooperation and academic excellence within the BRICS nations.
