The ‘Designing Public Policy for India’ programme is an intensive, accelerated training for young professionals aspiring to become successful policymakers in India. Developed through extensive research on policy scholarship and consultation with public policy practitioners, the programme offers practically relevant and hands-on learning. Uniquely tailored to the Indian context, each session delves into the intricacies of Indian policy-making. Participants will gain the knowledge, skills, and network needed to design effective policies that are technically viable, administratively feasible, and politically desirable. Alongside expert faculty members, experienced practitioners from the Indian policy space will serve as instructors, providing a platform to learn and connect. Upon completion, participants will join an exclusive community of future public policy leaders in India, offering continuous learning, guidance, collaboration, and networking opportunities.

Structure of the programme comprises of 3 whole-day modules each consisting of 4 sessions:
Understanding policy challenges: Day one explores the why, what, and how of policy-making and the political economy behind it, all within the framework of the rule of law and the division of power in India.
Deliberating policy solutions: On Day 2, the focus shifts to understanding the perspectives of various stakeholders to ensure effective policy implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
Communicating policy proposals: On the last day, the focus is on effectively communicating policy proposals both orally and in writing, followed by dialogue and discussions with prominent figures from the Indian policy space.
The instructional method will be an engaging, immersive blend of case studies, group discussions, role plays, lectures and simulations, ensuring a rich and experiential learning experience.
Required: Working professionals in the policy, development, social impact, or private sectors with at least 2 years of full-time experience (includes government fellowships). Additionally, a bachelor’s degree in any subject with a strong academic record.
Desired: We seek candidates with potential for future leadership in the Indian public policy space. Ideal candidates are committed to learning and can contribute unique perspectives, experiences, and insights to the class.
