IIM Indore Hosts Pre-Convocation Ceremony Ahead of 27th Annual Convocation

The Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) formally commenced the celebrations for its 27th Annual Convocation with a dignified Pre-Convocation Ceremony held on campus on March 27, 2026. The event celebrated the achievements, leadership, and contributions of students and alumni, setting the tone for the main convocation scheduled for March 28, 2026.

During the ceremony, Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore, felicitated student committee coordinators for their exemplary leadership and commitment towards institutional initiatives. Certificates of appreciation were presented to recognise their contributions to academic, cultural, and professional activities. The Director also honoured top-performing students across programmes for their outstanding academic achievements.

Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore, said, “The Pre-Convocation Ceremony is a meaningful occasion for us to recognise the dedication, leadership, and achievements of our students and alumni. Their commitment to excellence and contribution to the institute’s vibrant ecosystem make us immensely proud.”He further added, “As we prepare to confer degrees upon the graduating cohort at the 27th Annual Convocation, we are confident that our students will carry forward the values of integrity, leadership, and social responsibility, emerging as capable professionals and true brand ambassadors of IIM Indore.”

As part of the celebrations, the institute also conferred the Alumni Awards 2025, recognising distinguished alumni for their exceptional professional accomplishments, leadership, entrepreneurial impact, public service, and global contributions.

  • Distinguished Contribution to the Alma Mater and Alumni Award 2025 – Mr. Rahul Razdan
    An alumnus from the institute’s first PGP batch (1998–2000), Mr. Rahul Razdan has played a pivotal role in strengthening global alumni engagement as a founding Board member of the IIM Indore Alumni Association. A visionary leader in gaming, digital media, and technology, he has built and scaled innovative platforms across the global digital ecosystem.
  • Distinguished Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2025 – Mr. Gunajit Brahma
    PGP alumnus (2010–2012), Mr. Gunajit Brahma is a social entrepreneur and sustainability advocate driving climate action and sustainable agribusiness through his ventures. His initiatives have connected thousands of small and marginal farmers to international markets, enhancing rural livelihoods and promoting indigenous produce.
  • Exemplary Public Service Award 2025 – Mr. Chetan Rai
    An EPGP alumnus (2020–2021), Mr. Chetan Rai serves in the Chief Minister’s Office, Government of Gujarat, contributing to strategic governance initiatives and evidence-based policy frameworks. His leadership in crisis management and regional development planning reflects impactful public service and administrative excellence.
  • Young Alumni Achiever Award 2025 – Ms. Ity Jain
    PGP alumna (2016–2018), Ms. Ity Jain works in Strategic Partnerships at Google India, fostering collaboration with startups, investors, and technology innovators. Her work supports digital transformation and AI adoption across India’s dynamic startup ecosystem.
  • Distinguished Alumni Award 2025 – Mr. Kunal Purohit
    PGP alumnus (2001–2003), Mr. Kunal Purohit serves as President at Tech Mahindra, leading next-generation technology businesses across AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and platform engineering. He has played a key role in advancing AI innovation and building inclusive digital capabilities.
  • Global Impact Award 2025 – Ms. Akila Moorthy
    PGP alumna (2001–2003), Ms. Akila Moorthy is Director – Strategy, Operations, Analytics and Chief of Staff for Google Payments at Google’s global headquarters in California. Through leadership roles across global technology and fintech organisations, she has driven significant advancements in digital financial ecosystems worldwide.

The Pre-Convocation celebrations also featured a mesmerising cultural evening performance by the renowned Prince Dance Group, which captivated the audience with its powerful choreography, artistic storytelling, and high-energy presentation. The performance beautifully blended contemporary and traditional dance elements, showcasing themes of perseverance, unity, and aspiration.

The celebrations will culminate with the 27th Annual Convocation tomorrow, March 28, 2026, where participants from eight academic programmes will be conferred their degrees.

Dr. Janmejaya Sinha, Chairman, BCG India, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest, addressing the graduating cohort as they prepare to embark on their professional journeys.

The ceremony will also recognise gold medalists for their exceptional academic performance.

With the Pre-Convocation Ceremony setting a celebratory and reflective tone, the institute now looks forward to honouring the graduating participants at the main convocation, marking a significant milestone in their academic and professional journeys.
