IIM Indore Welcomes IPM 2026–31 Batch with a Two-Day Induction Programme

New cohort begins its five-year journey with alumni interactions, academic recognition, and conversations on life beyond IPM

Indore, August 10, 2026: Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore) welcomed the new batch of its five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) 2026–31 with the commencement of a two-day induction programme on August 10, 2026. The programme brought together the incoming students, faculty members, senior students, and alumni to mark the beginning of their academic journey at IIM Indore.

The batch was inaugurated by Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore, who welcomed the new cohort and encouraged the students to make the most of the unique opportunities offered by the IPM. Prof. Rai spoke about how the journey at IIM Indore is not just about academic or professional achievement but about finding fulfillment and growing into a responsible, well-rounded human being. He encouraged the new batch to remain humble, curious, and open to learning from everyone around, while managing their time and priorities carefully and being empathetic toward people from different backgrounds. Encouraging the participants, he said, “If you think that something is very difficult and you cannot muster up enough courage to attempt it, just look back and see how much you have already achieved.” He mentioned that taking the first step can make even an impossible challenge seem achievable. He also reminded them that failure is a natural part of growth and that setbacks do not define us; what matters is having the resilience and courage to get back up and keep moving forward. Alongside this, he urged the new batch to stay connected with their parents, be kind to themselves and others, and make the most of the opportunities ahead. He encouraged them to embrace the new chapter with courage, perseverance, empathy, and gratitude.

Prof. Aditya Maheshwari, Chair, IPM, highlighted the highly selective nature of the admission process and the significance of the journey undertaken by the incoming cohort. With 30,203 applications received for the IPM programme, only 156 students were selected and registered for the programme, accounting for 0.51% of all applicants. He encouraged the students to recognize the significance of having made it through such a rigorous selection process and to value the opportunity before them. He urged them to make the most of their five-year journey at IIM Indore, learn from the diverse community around them, and approach the experience with humility, curiosity, and purpose.

A key highlight of the induction programme was a series of panel discussions that brought together faculty members and alumni to help the incoming cohort understand the different dimensions of the IPM experience.

The first panel discussion, titled “Planet-I: A Walk Down Memory Lane,” featured alumni from different IPM batches, including Niloy Jain (IPM 2012), Ayushi Agrawal (IPM 2013), Siddhi Helwatkar (IPM 2016), Bhavya Kundu (IPM 2017), Mrigesh Dewan (IPM 2019), and Anay Daga (IPM 2020). The session was moderated by Prof. Siddhartha K. Rastogi, IIM Indore. The discussion offered the new students an opportunity to look back at the IPM journey through the experiences of alumni from different cohorts and understand how their years at IIM Indore shaped their academic, personal, and professional journeys.

The second panel discussion, “Life after IPM,” was moderated by Prof. Aditya Billore, IIM Indore, and featured the same diverse group of IPM alumni. The session focused on the journeys students undertake after completing the IPM, offering insights into the varied pathways and opportunities that emerge from the programme.

The third panel discussion, “Four Pillars of IPM,” brought together faculty members Prof. G Venkat Raman, Prof. Nagarajan Krishnamurthy, Prof. Karthikeya Naraparaju, and Prof. Sayantan Banerjee, and was moderated by Prof. Aditya Maheshwari. The session introduced students to the foundational academic and developmental dimensions of the IPM and the values that underpin their five-year journey at IIM Indore.

Through these sessions, the induction programme created opportunities for students to engage with members of the IIM Indore community, ask questions, exchange perspectives, and gain a broader understanding of the opportunities and responsibilities that come with being part of the IPM.

The induction programme also celebrated academic excellence among the graduating IPM cohort.

Certificates of Academic Excellence were presented to the top 5% of participants from the graduating batch in recognition of their outstanding academic performance during the first three years of the programme. The awardees included Aditya Bhaskar Iyer, Aryan Dilip Jain, Hirday Khandelwal, Rohan Ravi Saraf, Shujal Kumar Jain, and Shreyash Agarwalla.

The programme also featured the presentation of the prestigious Late Adya Prabha Memorial Scholarship, awarded to the female participant who secured the highest CGPA in the fourth year while continuing her IPM degree. The scholarship, instituted in memory of Ms. Adya Prabha, an alumna of the IPM 2015 batch, was presented to Ms. Srishti Chopra.

Further promoting equitable access to education, IIM Indore also announced the Need-Based Financial Assistance (NBFA) Merit Awards for IPM participants. Under the IPM-2 category, an award of ₹5,00,000 was presented to Ms. Cheshta Malik, while under the IPM-1 category, an award of ₹5,00,000 was presented to Mr. Lakshya Kriplani.

These awards reflect IIM Indore’s commitment to recognizing academic merit and ensuring that deserving students receive support to pursue their educational aspirations.

The IPM 2026–31 batch at IIM Indore brings together a diverse mix of academic backgrounds, geographies, and nationalities. The cohort comprises 156 participants, including 48 female and 108 male participants. Academically, the batch includes 75 students from Commerce, 65 from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM), seven from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB), eight from other disciplines, and one from Arts. The cohort also reflects wide geographic representation across India, with Maharashtra contributing the highest number of domestic participants at 23, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 20, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan with 12 each, and Telangana with 11. The batch also includes five international participants, with three from the USA, one from Nepal, and one from Britain.

The two-day induction programme provided the incoming IPM 2026–31 batch with an introduction to the academic ecosystem, institutional culture, and community that they will be part of over the next five years. Through interactions with faculty, alumni, and peers, the new students were encouraged to look beyond the curriculum, embrace the diversity of experiences around them, and make the most of the opportunities that the IPM journey offers.

As the new batch begins its journey at IIM Indore, the induction programme sets the tone for five years of learning, exploration, collaboration, and personal growth, preparing students to make the most of their time at one of India’s leading institutions for management education.
