As part of iKON CxO Guest Lecture Series, an initiative of EPGP, IIM Indore – the One Year Full Time Post Graduate Programme in Management, a talk on ‘Corporate Governance’ was held on June 27, 2018.
Mr. S. Santhanakrishnan, Founder and Managing Partner of PKF Sridhar & Santhanam LLP, Chartered Accountants, was the speaker for the talk.
Professor Pawan Kumar Singh, Faculty, IIM Indore welcomed and introduced Mr. Santhanakrishnan who is presently serving as a Director on the Board of Companies like Tata Coffee Ltd., Tata Global Beverages Ltd., ICICI Home Finance Company Ltd., IDBI Capital Markets & Securities Ltd.
This was followed by a session on Corporate Governance, in which Mr. Santhanakrishnan shared his insights regarding the relevance of the lone dissenting voice in board meetings and of whistleblower for good governance. Quoting cases of the TATA Group and Infosys, Mr. Santhanakrishnan highlighted the primacy of shareholder interest as a measure of good corporate governance. He also highlighted the importance of ethics in his organization and shared how gender diversity improves corporate governance and had been the mantra of his organization since its inception.
The talk was carried forward by Mr. Suriyanarayanan, R, Chief Partner of PKF Sridhar & Santhanam LLP, who discussed the case study of Theranos as a highlight for lookouts for Financial Frauds.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A with the participants.
