Ranbhoomi Initiatives

As part of the being the biggest sporting event in central India, we, the team at IIM-Indore believe that keeping the entire community as a major stakeholder is a necessity. To strive for achieving this productivity, we needed to have an initiative and partner with the right organisations to make it all happen.

For Ranbhooomi 2018, our primary focus would be promoting Gender Equality. We believe in equal opportunities to and contribution by both the genders. To create this form of social justice, we’d contribute our share of providing a level platform.

Paralympic Committee of India

Paralympic Committee of India

Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) is a non-profitable, non-partisan organization equivalent to Indian Olympic Association, National Sports Federation founded in the year 1994. Since then, PCI has been working solely for the promotion and development of sports among the physically challenged, including the visually impaired persons, in India. PCI and IIM-Indore hosted Shri Mariyappan Thangavelu (Gold Medallist, Rio Paralympic Games 2016) and Shri Sharad Kumar (Gold Medallist, 2014 Incheon Asian Para Games) as the Guests of Honour. Shri Mariyappan Thangavelu was recently awarded the Padma Shree. The sports stars graced the IIM campus and shared their inspirational experiences while interacting with the students and faculty members during the festival thereby, directly spreading awareness and sensitizing the youth of the nation on the physical and mental abilities of the physically disabled sportspersons.

iHelp – An IPM Intiative

iHelp – An IPM Intiative

Ranbhoomi’17 has associated itself with iHelp, IIM-IPM’s first ever campaign against mass illiteracy. iHelp’s mission is to educate, encourage, motivate, inspire & lead the underprivileged children of Madhya Pradesh to pursue higher education which will stabilize their economic well-being to a large extent. Ranbhoomi’17 aimed to help iHelp’s cause as a part of our social initiative. Various events, drives and campaigns were held for the same. One highlight among these events was a Gully cricket tournament that was organised among the children of primary schools from nearby villages. The winners of the tournament got goodies and visited the IIM-I campus and spent a day with the Ranbhoomi team. With our association, our team aimed to inspire these children with our tagline “refuse to lose” and hoped to instill the notion of never giving up in their minds!

Genebandhu

Genebandhu

Genebandhu is an Indian stem cell registry and an NGO. Genebandhu is cooperative registry of NMDP, USA. It is one of the 75 registries existing worldwide with over 28 million voluntary stem cell donors (non-Caucasian constitute to only 13%), however, biological factors nullify this option for Indians suffering with blood disorder across the globe. Hence, there is a dire need for expanding Indian voluntary stem cell donor pool.

Genebandhu is working with an objective that no person in India should die out of Leukemia, Aplastic Anemia, Thalassemia, Sickle-cell Anemia, etc. due to lack of a matched unrelated donor (MUD). This association helped Team Ranbhoomi and Gene Bandhu in the betterment of the humanity. With support of Team Ranbhoomi, Genebandhu got closer to their vision of minimizing the time required for a person to find a Stem Cell match and also ensure a successful donation.
