Dr. Ajit Phadnis is an Associate Professor of Public Policy at the Indian Institute of Management Indore. He brings close to 20 years of experience in research, teaching, and practice in the field of public policy. He has undertaken assignments with reputed entities such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Parliament of India, and the state governments of Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. He has also trained a diverse range of participants, including corporate executives, civil servants, and not-for-profit managers.
His academic credentials include a PhD and an MBA (formerly PGP) from IIM Bangalore, and a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay. He has held prestigious fellowships as a Lok Sabha Fellow, a Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellow at Duke University, and a BIARI Fellow at Brown University. He was also awarded the Community Service Award at IIM Bangalore for his contributions during the MBA programme.
Ajit’s academic research focuses on democratic institutions such as Parliament and state legislatures, exploring ways to strengthen their functioning. Alongside this, he maintains a practitioner-oriented interest in diverse themes, including political consultancy, public policy education, and social impact investing.
