Dr. Biswanath Swain is currently an Associate Professor of Ethics and Sustainability at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore, India. He earned his PhD degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and his MA and MPhil from the University of Hyderabad.

He teaches courses such as Business Ethics and CSR (PGP, IPM, PGPHRM, PGPMX, EMP-MMS), Sustainability in Practice (DPM, PGP, IPM), Marketing Ethics (DPM, EDPM, PGP), Ethics in Business Management (EPGP, EDPM), Contemporary Moral Issues (IPM), Ethics and Society (IPM), Media Ethics (IPM), and Philosophy: A Tool of Sustainability (IPM) at IIM Indore.

At IIM Indore, he has been offering innovative Management Development Programmes (MDPs) on Marketing Ethics and Organizational Ethics and Values, and Stakeholder Management: Key to Ethical and Sustainable Business, apart from offering a unique Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Marketing Ethics.

He offers a unique and cutting-edge Online PG Certificate Programme titled Advanced Programme in CSR and Sustainable Strategic Leadership, which equips participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), ESG, Corporate Governance and sustainable strategy and leadership development. It focuses on fostering an understanding of sustainable business practices, strategic CSR initiatives, and their alignment with organizational goals measuring and reporting it through ESG and Corporate Governance.

His research primarily focuses on the issues of Business Ethics, Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Creation of Shared Value (CSV), Marketing Ethics, and Organizational Ethics.

His research has been published in journals including, the Journal of Business Ethics (FT 50 and ‘A’ as per ABDC classification), the Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing (‘A’ as per ABDC classification), the Journal of International Business Education (‘B’ as per ABDC classification), Social Responsibility Journal (‘B’ as per ABDC classification).

His solo as well as co-authored research papers on these areas of ethics are presented at various international conferences held in the countries, including Australia (Perth), France (Nice), Georgia (Tbilisi), Germany (Cologne), Hungary (Budapest), Ireland (Dublin), Japan (Tokyo and Sapporo), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Portugal (Lisbon), Spain (Santander), UAE (Abu Dhabi), UK (Oxford and Buxton), and USA (New York and Chicago).

He has also been associated with some of the reputable academic societies, institutes, and associations: a) member of Society for Business Ethics (SBE), b) member of the Academic Advisory Committee of Global Corporate Governance Institute – One of the largest international associations focusing on responsible business, and c) member in the Board of Studies, Manipal Centre for Business Practice (MCBP), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) – an Institute of Eminence recognized by, Department of Education, Government of India.

He has also been associated with the Journal of Contemporary Business Research (Sage Publication) and Journal of Sustainable Business (Springer Publication) as Associate Editors.
