Prof. Kamal Sharma has earned his Doctorate from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and has earlier studied at Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He is a trained mountaineer, paraglider pilot and Yoga teacher. He attempted to Summit Mount Everest Summit in summer 2023. He is an experienced Corporate and Investment Banking professional, having worked for a leading US banking corporation, and is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School (Executive Education).
He is trained at eminent institutions of the Ministry of Defence (India): mountaineering and rock climbing at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (Uttarkashi), and in paragliding at National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (Arunachal Pradesh).
His research interests are issues related to leadership, mindfulness & decision-making, and business history. Papers authored by him have been selected for presentation at various international conferences, including those organised by the Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society, Academy of International Business, International Place Branding Association, Russian Academy of Sciences, Rice University, Yale University, National Research University Moscow, etc.
In other pursuits, Kamal is interested in photography, surfing and biking. He has acted in theatre productions at the National School of Drama (New Delhi) and Bharat Bhavan (Bhopal), amongst others.
