Kamal Sharma is a Fellow of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. He was awarded Prof. Tirath Gupta Memorial Thesis Award at IIM Ahmedabad for his doctoral thesis titled “Impact of CEO Succession on Strategic Changes in Firms” in Business Policy research area. Earlier, he studied at Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
He has worked for four years in Corporate and Investment Banking division of Citibank N.A. prior to his doctoral studies.
His research interests are in issues related to Leadership, Strategic Change, Family Business, Business History and International Business. Papers authored by him have been selected for presentation in various international conferences including those organized by Academy of Management (Chicago), European Academy of Management (Paris), Strategic Management Society (Mohali, India and Tel Aviv, Israel), Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (Melbourne and Hobart, Australia), Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg, Russia) , Rice University (Houston, USA), Yale University (Lijiang, China and New York, USA), National Research University (Moscow, Russia), Academy of International Business (Bangalore, India), and Indian Academy of Management (Ahmedabad, India).
Apart from academic pursuits, Kamal is interested in photography, trekking, surfing and traveling. He has acted in theatre productions at National School of Drama (New Delhi) and Bharat Bhavan (Bhopal) amongst others. He has traveled widely within and outside the country.
