Prof. Nobin Thomas is an Associate Professor in Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management at the Indian Institute of Management Indore, where he also serves as Chairperson of the Post Graduate Programme in Human Resource Management (PGP-HRM) and Chairperson of the Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management Area.
He has held several leadership positions at IIM Indore, including Co-Chairperson of Hostel and Student Affairs (2017-2019), Co-Chairperson of the PGP-HRM (2019-2020), and Chairperson of the PGP-HRM (2020-2021). In 2022-2023, he was on leave from IIM Indore to serve as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at Gettysburg College, United States.
Prof. Nobin holds a Bachelor of Technology from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, a Master of Arts from the School of Human Resource Management and Labour Relations at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai in Globalization and Labour – where he received the Institute Gold Medal for Best Student and Best Research Project – and a Ph.D. in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Before embarking on his doctoral studies, he briefly worked with the United Nations Headquarters in New York as a global intern.
Prof. Nobin’s research focuses on social networks and organizational learning. His work has been published in leading international journals, including Gender, Work & Organization and Management Decision. He has authored six cases published by Ivey Publishing, two Harvard Business Publishing Quick Cases, and several others in repositories such as IIM Ahmedabad and Emerald. In addition, he has contributed a chapter to the Routledge Handbook of Entrepreneurship in Developing Economies. He regularly presents his work at major international forums, including the Academy of Management (AOM) Annual Meeting and the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) Colloquium.
Prof. Nobin has been trained in participant-centred learning at Harvard Business School and in social network analysis at the University of Kentucky, USA. At IIM Indore, he teaches core and elective courses across flagship programmes and designs customized training modules for executive development programmes. His elective on networks and networking consistently receives high acclaim from MBA participants. He also teaches courses such as Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Design, Social Network Analysis, and Organizational Theory.
In addition to his academic work, Prof. Nobin has undertaken consulting assignments across geographies on areas such as organizational design, staffing models, and workforce efficiency. His consulting engagements, together with his extensive research published in top-tier journals and case-writing contributions to Harvard Business Publishing and Ivey Publishing, reflect his commitment to bridging academic scholarship with management practice.
