15th Batch of EPGP Begins at IIM Indore

IIM Indore inaugurated the new batch of 41 participants of the One-Year Full-Time Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP – Batch 15) today. The EPGP programme is designed to prepare experienced executives to take on senior leadership roles. The programme’s curriculum includes a mix of theoretical concepts and practical case studies, which enables students to develop the critical thinking and analytical skills required for effective leadership in today’s fast-paced business environment. The inauguration took place in the presence of Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore and Chief Guest Mr. Saurabh Chandra, MD, BCG.

Prof. Himanshu Rai spoke about the programme being one of the most important offerings by the institution, preparing students for what the industry needs and what is relevant for times to come. He interacted with the new batch online and advised them to “Wear a CROWN for the rest of their lives”. He explained that “C” stands for Conscientiousness, and urged the participants to manage their time well, be disciplined and trustworthy, and make the best of their experiences. “”R” encourages self-reflection and defines success with reference to individual achievements, while “O” emphasizes openness to experiences, and approaches new situations with an open heart and an attitude to learn”, he said. He mentioned that “W” emphasizes wisdom, and adviced the participants to understand that knowledge and wisdom are different. Knowledge is learning, while wisdom comes from experiences, he said. He adviced them to continue expanding their horizons throughout their lives. “N” highlights networking and the importance of building relationships to broaden perspectives and learn from others’ experiences. He extended his best wishes to the participants and warmly welcomed them to IIM Indore.

Mr. Saurabh Chandra congratulated the new batch and shared some interesting anecdotes from his life and work experiences. He emphasized that each individual brings unique life experiences and perspectives, and it’s important to recognize how the world will perceive them as they step out of IIM Indore. He further added that the participants are now an integral part of IIM Indore and will shape the new world, not just for themselves but for everyone. He stressed the importance of not just tangible growth but also intangible joy, which is priceless.

Mr. Chandra also shared ten anecdotes based on the theme “I wish I was told” from his life experiences. He began by sharing how sports taught him exploration, starting from where he was as a child put in a hostel. He advised the new batch to try many things as they start their professional career and emphasized that exploring different things in life helps to find joy and happiness. Mr. Chandra also stressed the importance of being a part of a cohort that doesn’t just look for excellence but novelty. He added that it’s not enough to just work while working; it’s essential to invest and explain personal learning to others. “Fancy titles are not important; building trust, a network, and having a habit of doing so are crucial,” he said. Mr. Chandra highlighted the importance of active listening and understanding different personalities while creating a team. He also spoke about the importance of being authentic and true to oneself. “The perfect day is when you experience both colors of life, success, and failures. Winning shouldn’t be the goal; winning rightfully, gracefully, and keeping values intact should be the goal,” he said. He advised the participants to take care of their health while running the race of life and not just being busy.

In attendance at the inauguration were also the Dean – Programmes, Prof. Prashant Salwan, and the Chair – EPGP, Prof. Saurabh Chandra, who provided their valuable insights to the new batch of participants. Prof. Salwan congratulated the new batch and mentioned that the EPGP programme had been ranked 89th in the FT 100 programme rankings. Prof. Salwan emphasized that the programme focuses on being novel and provides an opportunity for the participants to be creative, focus on personal learning, become resilient and explore. He encouraged the new batch to take advantage of this opportunity and make the most of their time at IIM Indore.

The batch consists of 41 participants, including 7 women and 34 men, with an average age of 31.0 years. The participants have an average work experience of 8.37 years, indicating the programme’s focus on experiential learning. The diverse mix of participants from different industries and backgrounds provides a unique learning experience, enabling peer-to-peer learning.
