16th Batch of EPGP Begins at IIM Indore

  • A total of 75 participants register for the one-year residential MBA programme
  • Largest batch size ever since the inception of the one-year full-time residential EPGP in 2009

The 16th batch of the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management – EPGP began at IIM Indore on April 04, 2024. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore. Chief Guest Mr. Vishal Sharma, National Managing Director & President, USI Consulting Leader, Deloitte Consulting India Pvt Ltd; Prof. Saurabh Chandra, Chair – EPGP; and Prof. Prashant Salwan, Dean – Programmes, and other faculty members were present on this occasion.

This batch is the largest (75 participants) one year EPGP Batch ever since its inception in the year 2009. In line with the dynamic nature of industries, the programme underscores the importance of continuous skill adaptation to align with evolving demands. This batch, therefore, will undergo a reviewed programme that will impart the skills that have been identified as the skills of the future. This programme, aimed at nurturing versatile leaders equipped to thrive in an ever-changing professional landscape, will help them embark on a transformative journey as they graduate.

In his welcome address, Prof. Rai advised the new batch to ‘Wear a CROWN’ for the rest of their lives. He explained the significance of Conscientiousness, urging individuals to prioritize tasks they are passionate about and manage their time wisely. Reflecting on one’s true self and reevaluating the definition of success over time, he noted, “Understanding your true meaning of success is crucial, as it may evolve with time.” Prof. Rai also advocated for openness to learning and finding inspiration in both successes and interactions with others. Additionally, he distinguished between knowledge and wisdom, emphasizing the importance of applying knowledge to one’s life to cultivate wisdom. “When you apply knowledge to your own life, that’s when it becomes wisdom,” he remarked. Lastly, he underscored the importance of networking, encouraging dialogue with individuals from diverse backgrounds to foster growth and understanding.

In his address, Mr. Sharma encouraged students to embrace new experiences and skills. He said that diversity in experiences contributes to a strong foundation. Drawing from his personal journey, he highlighted the confidence gained from education, and stressed the need to stay relevant in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. “Remember,” he remarked, “technology is becoming a defining differentiating factor and disrupter of existing models universally.” Additionally, he emphasized the value of feedback and constructive criticism, viewing it as an opportunity for growth. Mr. Sharma also celebrated the global success of Indian leaders, attributing it to their competitiveness and ability to harness unique experiences. Importantly, he reminded students to prioritize their well-being, both physically and mentally, as success should not come at the expense of health. ‘Be comfortable in your own skin’, he said, encouraging the participants to invest in their holistic development.

Prof. Saurabh Chandra congratulated the new batch on embarking on this new journey. He said that the participants now hold a significant place within the IIM Indore community and have the potential to shape the future of society as a whole. He underscored the value of not only tangible achievements but also the immeasurable joy that comes from personal and collective growth, emphasizing its priceless nature.

Prof. Salwan highlighted the importance of staying ahead of the curve by incorporating essential skills in the industrial landscape. He emphasized the innovative nature of the curriculum, focusing on conception and creation, ensuring that students are equipped not just with knowledge but also with the ability to innovate and create value in the rapidly changing business landscape.

The new batch also received briefings on the institute’s facilities and library resources.

The batch comprises a diverse group of individuals, totaling 75 participants, who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the classroom. With 12 female and 63 male participants, the cohort represents a blend of genders, ensuring a balanced perspective in discussions and collaborations. Their average age of 32.2 years indicates a mix of seasoned professionals and those early in their careers, fostering a dynamic learning environment. The participants boast an average work experience of 8.4 years, reflecting a group well-versed in their respective fields. Spanning industries such as Automotive, BFSI, Consulting, Education, Energy/Power/Oil, Government, IT/ITES, Manufacturing/Infra, and Other sectors, this batch embodies a rich tapestry of backgrounds, skills, and knowledge. Together, they form a vibrant community poised to engage in meaningful dialogue, tackle challenges, and drive impactful solutions in their respective domains.
