Message from the Chair, DPM

It is commonly acknowledged that knowledge and knowledge workers power the world economy. Knowledge creation and sharing are seen as the cornerstones of a successful business, and knowledge workers now play a crucial role in this regard.

As businesses continue to innovate and expand, they are relying more and more on the application of current paradigms of knowledge. In this context, academia plays an increasingly vital role in both producing new knowledge and extending the boundaries of established, classical management theories. The Doctorate Program in Management seeks to produce exceptional professionals who conduct management-related research and work to apply that research to practical problems. Producing outstanding management educators and researchers is the program’s main goal.

There is demanding coursework in every functional area of management for the DPM at IIM Indore. The participants can learn about the functional areas of management through these courses that focus on breadth. Advanced level courses in the field of specialization come after this phase. The doctoral-level courses prepare students to absorb knowledge from both classical and modern literature in their field, as well as to critically evaluate that literature and apply it to their own research interests. In order to get ready for their dissertation, participants also take advanced research methods courses. Upon completion of the doctoral level coursework, participants are expected to demonstrate competencies in their chosen field by passing a comprehensive examination.

Following a successful passing score on the comprehensive exam, the participants are prepared to start creating their own knowledge. A Thesis Advisory Committee made up of distinguished academic faculty members from the field provides support to them while they conduct their research. The institute offers top-notch research facilities through access to a large number of business and academic databases, cutting-edge technology, and first-rate library facilities. The institute provides generous grants to its participants so they can attend conferences in India and overseas and get feedback from their peers and the academic community at large.
