The mission of IIM Indore is to be a business school with world class academic students and that obviously includes excellence in research and publications.
Over recent years, IIM Indore has grown in strength and today has around 90 highly qualified faculty. The Institute is committed to provide a conducive environment for faculty to pursue their research interests, resulting in publications in high quality journals.
IIM Indore’s internal performance management system for faculty places strong emphasis on research and publications. Confirmation and promotion are dependent on good performance on this dimension. The Institute recognizes faculty’s high quality publications through monetary awards.
The Institute actively looks for opportunities to organise high quality conferences and workshops. In the last year, IIM Indore organized the 3rd Pan IIM World Management Conference, the Academy of International Business India Chapter Conference, and the 7th International Conference for Excellence in Research and Education (CERE).
The Institute devotes considerable resources to its doctoral programme, the Fellow Programme in Management, which is one of the flagship programmes of the Institute.
The Institute has taken a number of steps to promote research activities. IIM Indore provides seed money for new research projects, grants for collaboration, support for research skill enhancement and recognition of outstanding research contributions.
IIM Indore provides support to faculty to develop research ideas, complete literature reviews, test questionnaires and other preliminary research activities leading to full-fledged research projects. Seed money grant of upto Rs. 100,000 is provided to interested faculty for a project that needs to be completed within one year from the date of approval.
IIM Indore supports the faculty members to attend workshops and colloquia at reputed institutions within and outside India for the specific purpose of enhancing research skills and learning emerging research methodologies
IIM Indore provides support for collaboration between faculty members at IIM Indore and researchers from outside India through competitive grants. Three faculty members are selected every year to spend up to 8 weeks at a foreign institutions for this purpose. Such research collaboration is expected to result in publications in leading academic journals
Young Faculty Chair is offered to a junior faculty member (Assistant or Associate Professors) who has demonstrated outstanding research potential so as to help them become thought leaders. The Chair’s tenure is for three year and consists of an income supplement plus a research grant.
IIM Indore nominates faculty to the Harvard Business School Colloquium on Participant Centered Learning on an annual basis. All costs related to attending the Colloquium are borne by the Institute.
IIM Indore has been taking several initiatives enabling faculty to realize their full academic potential. In this direction, IIM Indore initiated a process by which the Best Teachers are recognized. After considering quantitative measures such as student feedback and qualitative factors such as innovation in course design and delivery, IIM Indore, has been recognizing such talent on an annual basis for the last few years.
With an objective to stay updated and share the ideas among students and faculty regarding various topics like science, business, economies, industries etc., IIM Indore hosts a few Special Interest Groups (SIG). These are theme based, inter-disciplinary research focused groups.
