ROLE OVERVIEW

The selected candidate will support the Institute in strengthening alumni engagement through structured alumni research, verification of professional information, improvement of database quality and identification of suitable alumni for institutional outreach.

The role requires a resourceful and inquisitive person who can gather and assess publicly available information, prepare accurate alumni profiles, understand the relevance of alumni achievements and expertise, and provide organised recommendations and follow-up support to the Alumni Office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Alumni Research and Verification
  • Research publicly available professional and social-media sources, including LinkedIn and organisational websites, to identify alumni and obtain current information about their roles, achievements and expertise.
  • Cross-check alumni affiliation with authorised Institute records and verify professional information through reliable sources.
  • Prepare brief and factual alumni profiles, clearly marking any information that requires further verification.
  1. Alumni Database and Information Management
  • Maintain accurate alumni information in the authorised database or portal and identify duplicate, incomplete or outdated records for correction.
  • Organise alumni data by programme, batch, graduation year, location, industry, organisation, professional role and expertise.
  • Generate updated alumni lists and reports based on specific requirements, such as sector, organisation, location, programme or area of expertise.
  • Record the source and date of relevant information and maintain confidentiality of alumni data.
  1. Alumni Engagement and Outreach Support
  • Identify alumni who may be relevant to academic, professional, institutional and alumni-engagement initiatives.
  • Recommend suitable alumni with a brief explanation of their relevance to the proposed initiative.
  • Prepare background notes, briefing material and draft communication for approved outreach.
  • Maintain a record of recommendations, communication, responses, follow-up actions and outcomes.
  1. Institutional Coordination and Reporting
  • Coordinate with relevant Institute offices and stakeholders for alumni-related information and approved requirements.
  • Compile verified alumni data required for rankings, accreditation, institutional reports and official communication.
  • Prepare periodic reports on research completed, alumni identified, data updated and engagement opportunities recommended.
  • Suggest practical improvements in alumni research, data quality and engagement processes.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or institution.
  • Demonstrable ability to conduct structured online research, assess the reliability of information and document findings accurately. Such ability may have been developed through academic projects, internships, independent assignments or employment.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and other publicly accessible professional and social-media sources.
  • Good English drafting, documentation and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel for data management and reporting, along with Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to organise, categorise, analyse and present information clearly and accurately.
  • Attention to detail, sound judgement, discretion and systematic follow-up.
  • Ability to coordinate with different stakeholders and work within institutional processes and timelines.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in alumni relations, research, information verification, stakeholder engagement, business research, institutional coordination or a related area.
  • Experience in an academic, higher-education or institutional environment.
  • Familiarity with databases, CRM systems, alumni portals, data-cleaning tools or other information-management platforms.
  • Experience in preparing professional profiles, research briefs, engagement trackers or reports.
  • Ability to understand professional profiles and identify suitable areas of institutional engagement or collaboration.
  • Fresh graduates with relevant practical research experience gained through academic projects, internships or independent assignments are encouraged to apply.

Salary & Allowances

The selected candidate will be engaged at IIM Indore on a fixed-term contractual basis through a manpower agency, with a consolidated monthly remuneration. The engagement will be subject to satisfactory performance, which will be reviewed annually. Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and suitability for the position and will not be a constraint for a deserving candidate
