About the Writing and Communication Studio (WCS):

Keeping with IIM Indore’s legacy of being at the forefront of educational innovation, the WCS was unveiled for the IIM Indore community under the leadership of the Director, Professor Himanshu Rai. Herein, the studio aimed to cater to the rhetorical and communication necessities of the IIM Indore community.

Writing and communication studios, and their variants, have been vibrant spaces in top-ranked global universities since the early 20th century. In recent years, academic institutions in India have recognized the exigency for these sites, and IIM Indore is delighted to be one of the Indian pioneers in this regard.

IIM Indore houses a diverse community of students who are part of its flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP), Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP), and Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM), along with a unique five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM), which is the first of its kind in India. The WCS was instituted to meet the varied rhetoric and communication needs of this student and faculty body. The WCS is a site to conduct activities related to academic writing and professional communication skills and provide one-to-one support to the institutional community on their specific communication needs.

Key Responsibility Areas of Consultant for Writing and Communication Studio

  • To create and edit research-based written content, including research summaries and explanatory articles, and translating academic research into clear and simplified language for non-specialist audiences.
  • To support IIM Indore faculty members with academic writing.
  • To support the IIM Indore Community with their communication needs.
  • To build more engagement around the various activities that the WCS engages in through its digital space. This space would document all WCS events, activities, and resources that the studio has fashioned.
  • To conduct online and in-person consultancy sessions related to academic writing, particularly for articles directed at top management journals.
  • To provide expert, individualized guidance on rhetoric, communication, language and composition to faculty members.
  • To create periodic and relevant handouts for community members at IIM Indore on rhetoric, communication, and other relevant material within the ambit of management.
  • To provide administrative support with language needs.
  • To participate in regular outreaches to ensure that the WCS remains a vibrant and appealing space in assisting with research-based writing.

Besides these responsibilities, the Consultant will also be involved in documentation and data management, liaising with faculty and administration, and participating in staff meetings and training.

Qualification and Experience

The candidates must have a postgraduate degree in any discipline of Management, Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences, with an inclination for working closely with faculty research and academic writing for public facing scholarship. Candidates with diverse academic and writing experience and certified expertise in the field of communication and English-language proficiency, research comprehension ability will be preferred.

Salary

The final salary will be decided according to the candidate’s credentials and interview performance. Salary will not be a constraint for the deserving candidate.

Nature of Appointment

The selected candidate will be offered a fixed-term IIMI contract for one year and extendable one year at a time for a maximum period of three years on a consolidated monthly pay package subject to satisfactory performance, which will be reviewed annually. The selected candidate would be evaluated after three months of joining and could complete the first year in the Institute only if the performance is found satisfactory at the end of three months.

Interview and Selection:

The selection process will be based on written test or/and an interview of the shortlisted candidates. The interview date, time and place will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates through email.

  1. Interested and eligible candidates are requested to send their application in the Prescribed Format along with scanned copies of Qualification Certificates (One PDF file for all qualifications certificates starting from class 10th as Annexure-1), Experience Certificates (One PDF file for all Experience certificates as Annexure-2) and Category/PwD certificate if applicable (One PDF file for Category and PwD certificates as Annexure-3) via email at career@iimidr.ac.in with super scribed subject as “Application For the post of Consultant for Writing and Communication Studio” on or before August 06, 2026.
  2. Applications received after August 06, 2026, will not be entertained.
  3. Application without Prescribed Format and Annexures, as mentioned in point no.1, will not be considered. The application is only to be sent through email to career@iimidr.ac.in. No other mode of application will be accepted.
  4. Mere fulfilling the minimum qualification and experience requirements will not confer any right on the candidates for being called for an Interview or/and their selection.
  5. Candidates who are not found suitable for the position may be considered for a lower position, on a lower pay scale, or an appropriate consolidated salary.
  6. The Institute reserves the right not to select anyone without assigning any reason.
  7. The Institute reserves the right to change/apply appropriate shortlisting criteria in case of many applications.
  8. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
  9. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
  10. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
  11. An incomplete application without proper supporting documents will be summarily rejected.
  12. The Institute requires the selected candidates to join immediately.
  13. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test or/and Interview or/and selection process.
  14. The decision of IIM Indore would be final and binding to the candidates.
  15. In case of any dispute concerning this recruitment, the jurisdiction of the competent courts will be within the territorial jurisdiction of the city of Indore only.
