The 21st Batch of Indian Institute of Management Indore’s (IIM Indore) Post Graduate Programme for Working Executives in Mumbai (PGPMX) began on August 03, 2024, at the institute’s Mumbai campus. The batch was inaugurated by IIM Indore’s Director, Prof. Himanshu Rai. Famous Voice Over Artist, Actor and Communication Trainer Mr. Vijay Vikram Singh, was the Special Guest for the inauguration. Prof. Mit Vachhrajani, Chair – PGPMX, was also present on this occasion.

Prof. Rai addressed the participants with great enthusiasm, highlighting this year’s remarkable achievement for the PGPMX programme. ‘Being ranked among the top 25 business schools in Asia, we have made a remarkable debut in the QS EMBA Rankings 2024,’ he noted. Our PGPMX course is meticulously designed to prepare you for the complexities of Industry 4.0, and it offers a curriculum that is both cutting-edge and contextually relevant, he added. He further emphasized IIM Indore’s distinctive edge as a Triple Crown Accredited Institution. ‘We have set ourselves apart by actively addressing five critical challenges: inequality, urban issues, rural challenges, environmental concerns, and the lack of entrepreneurial spirit,’ Prof. Rai explained. He shared various initiatives launched by the institute to tackle these pressing issues and invited the participants to contribute to meaningful solutions. Encouraging the participants, Prof. Rai urged them to remain open to continuous learning and to embody the core values of leadership: compassion, effective communication, courage, and perseverance. ‘Embrace these qualities and never give up, as they are essential to becoming effective leaders in today’s world,’ he concluded.

Mr. Vijay Vikram Singh shared profound insights from his varied career path, reflecting on his transition from an MBA graduate to exploring voice-overs and acting. He extended heartfelt congratulations to the participants for embarking on this transformative journey. ‘Embrace a growth mindset,’ he urged, stressing the importance of continual upskilling and self-improvement. Mr. Singh emphasized the value of competing with oneself rather than others, as this approach facilitates personal growth and avoids the pitfalls of negative competition, such as envy and jealousy. He highlighted that empathy is a cornerstone of effective leadership, and this requires not only strong communication skills but also the ability to present content compellingly. ‘While content is crucial, how you present it can make all the difference,’ he remarked. Addressing the rapid changes in today’s world, Mr. Singh advised participants to remain adaptable and curious. Be open to exploring new experiences; they will inspire innovative ideas, he said. He concluded with an empowering message: ‘The opposite of success is not failure but experience. Keep nurturing your inner child, stay enthusiastic, and continuously seek to learn and grow.’

Prof. Mit Vachhrajani extended his congratulations to the new cohort, recognizing their commitment to advancing their careers through this programme. ‘By joining PGPMX, you have taken a bold step towards expanding your knowledge and leadership skills’, he said. He mentioned that this batch is truly unique, as it stands out for its exceptional gender diversity. This year’s batch has 9 female participants. Prof. Vachhrajani said, ‘Together, you will have the opportunity to learn and implement concepts simultaneously. Embrace this unique learning experience by remaining curious and enthusiastic throughout the programme and beyond’. He also highlighted the importance of gratitude and support from family, acknowledging the role of participants’ loved ones in their educational journey.
