For the first time ever, IIM Indore has brought together five institutions of national importance in and around Indore. The institutions have joined forces to host a thrilling cricketing event—the Indore National Institutions Cricket Championship 2025. The participating institutions include Army War College Mhow, IIM Indore, IIT Indore, Infantry School Mhow, and MCTE Mhow. Organized and hosted by IIM Indore, this unprecedented championship brings together top academic and military institutions in a spirited celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and holistic well-being. The event was inaugurated by IIM Indore’s Director, Prof. Himanshu Rai.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Rai highlighted the profound connection between fitness, sports, and nation-building, drawing attention to the championship’s alignment with the national Fit India Movement. He noted that the journey towards a stronger and healthier India begins at the individual level, where personal commitment to fitness can inspire a ripple effect throughout families, communities, and society at large. “When we, as individuals, commit to staying fit—both physically and mentally—we set an example for those around us. A fit individual influences their family to embrace healthy habits, which in turn creates a healthier and more conscious society. Together, this movement grows into a powerful force that drives the nation forward, encouraging resilience, unity, and strength. A fit family leads to a fit society, and a fit society creates a robust and vibrant India”, he said. He further emphasized that events like the Indore National Institutions Cricket Championship 2025 serve as catalysts for this transformative journey, not only by promoting physical activity but also by instilling values such as teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and collaboration. Prof. Rai said, “The true essence of nation-building lies in small but meaningful changes—when each of us chooses to lead a healthier and more disciplined life, we collectively strengthen the foundation of a prosperous India. It begins with us, and through our efforts, we inspire change in our families, our communities, and ultimately, the entire nation.“
As part of the opening ceremony, all participating teams took a “Pledge for Holistic Fitness”, vowing to maintain a fit mind, body, and soul while committing to inspire at least one individual each month to adopt a healthier habit. This symbolic gesture underscores the tournament’s aim to promote physical and mental well-being beyond the cricket field.
The matches, hosted on the scenic IIM Indore cricket ground, promise to deliver excitement and passion as students, faculty, and staff cheer for their teams. The championship culminates in a much-anticipated grand finale scheduled for February 22, 2025, where the best of the best will battle it out for glory.
This historic championship sets a benchmark for future collaborations and highlights the growing role of sports in nurturing leadership, resilience, and a commitment to holistic development.
The Indore National Institutions Cricket Championship 2025 is a movement that celebrates unity in diversity, encouraging participants to build connections while promoting a culture of fitness and excellence.
