Transformation of the student’s outlook is the central objective in management and engineering education adopting a participantcentred approach is a powerful strategy. IIMI course is amazingly designed where in the program starts from the participants’ own experience rather than being dictated by the logic of a subject being studied. Case Study and simulation is a research method involving an up-close, in-depth, and detailed examination of a particular case.
Cases are narratives, situations, select data samplings, or statements that present unresolved and provocative issues, situations, or questions (Indiana University Teaching Handbook, 2005). The case method is a participatory, discussion-based way of learning where students gain skills in critical thinking, communication, and group dynamics.
The objective of this workshop is to develop a faculty in all the three level of capabilities ranging from Knowledge, skills where in the faculty develops the capabilities for opportunity /problem framing visioning alternatives, analysis critical thinking , cross
functional integration and third being capabilities of developing educational attitudes , beliefs and world view. Participative learning through case study and simulations helps developing all the three levels.
We will go through a broad framework of integrating Case Creation with applied research in Management and to generate a Concept cascade to enable teachers channel their research experiences into classrooms in better and faster fashion. Using the case method of teaching shall help the participants in developing skills in the above areas and shall close with a project on case development. Preparing to lead class discussion, leading the class discussion in a manner such that student discovers the theory rather than be informed about it.
