The 3-day programme offers insights into the financial behaviours and needs of working women, who often find themselves not adequately skilled in financial management.
Objectives
At the end of the programme, participants should be able to:

- Analyze major expenses and have a preliminary budget.
- Create a contingency fund and have a savings plan.
Content
Day 1: Motivating the discussion
- The meaning and components of financial wellness and why it matters differently for women than men.
- Research highlighting women’s financial attitudes and primary financial challenges.
- Identifying short- and medium-term financial goals for each participant.
Day 2: The building blocks of financial literacy and the budgeting process
- Understanding the relationship between incomes, expenses, and savings.
- The need for regular savings out of monthly income.
- The difference between expenses and assets.
- Expense management: Fixed versus variable expenses.
- The process of budgeting.
- Preparing a personal budget – individual exercise.
Day 3: The basics of financial investing and the power of compounding
- Why ‘the sooner the better’ for saving and investing – the power of compounding.
- The indispensable contingency fund.
- The different classes of financial products available – equity, debt instruments, mutual funds (pros and cons of each).
- Identifying long term financial goals such as retirement, and how to get started and remain committed.
